DBA worked with a division of the Kaman Corporation, Kamatics, to specify state-of-the-art bearings to achieve longer life. DBA’s redesign of the SH-2G Azimuth increased its service life between overhauls from 750 hours to 2000 hours. Following the completion of the design, DBA was also contracted to design and fabricate an installation fixture used to assemble the azimuth. The redesigned tool cut by a third the time required to properly assemble the azimuth.
